Butter Dish Order

Yesterday someone asked me to make them a rectangular butter-dish for one stick of butter. I said I would try, as I usually make round pottery on the wheel. I decided to try to make it on the wheel instead of hand building it from slabs of clay. I measured the butter and then threw two round dishes the right width. After they were soft leather hard, I cut a wedge from the center and squished the sides to make the pieces oblong. I filled in the cracks and let dry some more. Today I carved the pieces down and smoothed and textured and added a handle.

I hope she likes it♥

Another Busy Day.

I am posting some photos of a teapot and cheese bell in the making.
The first is all the pieces after I threw them on the wheel.
Today I trimmed and then assembled them and covered them in plastic to slow dry.
The teapot will have a cane handle if it makes it through the two firings:>)

I also made an Espresso cup, a large cup for my son Randy and a bowl with the words joy, love, dance, and sing pressed into the clay. Something different.

A Very Fruitful Day:>)

Above is the promised Val's Turquoise bowl and my newest teapot. I have glazed so many new Espresso Sunrise pieces, I had to mix more glaze today. I glazed four more dinner plates and trimmed a new landscape platter and a spoon-rest for my son and his wife. My sister requested a bowl with silver handles like I gave my brother for Christmas. so I made that too. A very satisfying day, making pottery for others.

Friends for Dessert

Had company last night for dessert and coffee.

Used all Espresso Sunrise to serve strawberry shortcake and hot and iced coffee. Had a great time away from the wheel. Forgot to take pictures until we had finished eating, so you get to see the mess:>)

Today I glazed another teapot and bowl. Decided to glaze the bowl in turquoise with some kiwi dribbled down the sides. Will post a photo on how it turns out.
